Floatsation Instructions for use

General safety

  • Use only under supervision of an appropriately trained/qualified adult.
  • Use only in shallow water (within the user’s standing depth). Do not use in open water.
  • Always follow venue/pool rules and any instructions from the lifeguard on duty.
  • Never dive or jump onto the product.

How to use Floatsation

Getting On

  • Floatsation is designed to be used on the surface of the water only. Place the unit in the waterbefore anyone gets onto it.
  • With support from others, the user may be helped onto the unit, or the unit may be positioned under the user while they hold on.
  • Some users may be able to pull the unit under themselves and then lie back onto it (with supervision).
  • Floatsation Bath Aid: If using in a bath/hot tub, ensure the unit is floating in the water before anyone gets on. Do not get on the unit when there is no water beneath it.

Getting Off

  • The user may sit up while the unit supports them, then stand (or be assisted to stand) when stable.
  • If transferring with a hoist, use an appropriate sling placed between the user and the Floatsation unit.
  • Do not hoist/lift a person into the air using the Floatsation unit.
  • Floatsation units are not slings.
  • Once the user is off, the unit may be held to provide steadying support while the user moves away (as appropriate).

Training

To get the best from Floatsation, we recommend attending a Floatsation training course (CPD linked). For details, please visit: https://floatsation.com/product/floatsation-training-courses

Moving & handling, hygiene, and storage

  • Rinse the unit in clean water after use. If required, use an appropriate mycobacterial solution for a higher level of hygiene.
  • Allow the unit to dry before storing to prevent mildew/mould and possible discolouration.
  • Do not leave the unit in or near water when not in use.
  • Use in water only. Avoid contact with hard or abrasive surfaces that may damage the unit.
  • Never store items on top of the unit.
